                           Vancouver, B.C. begins.

  • 11/16/1950 : Northern Pacific Railway begins interchange with Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway at Pasco, Washington.

  • 01/01/1951 : Robert Mc Farlane is elected president of the Northern Pacific Railway.

  • 06/03/1951 : Great Northern Railway's Western Star passenger train begins service.

  • 04/15/1952 : Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway's Scribner Turn is put into service.

  • 11/15/1952 : Last run for the Northern Pacific Railway's passenger train, The Alaskan.

  • 03/23/1953 : Great Northern Railway's last steam train to run in the Cascades Mts. of Washington.

  • 07/14/1853 : Great Northern Railway's last passenger & mail run on the Wenatchee to Oroville, Washington branch.

  • 08/29/1953 : Winold Reiss famed artist for the Great Northern Railway dies.

  • 06/26/1954 : Northern Pacific Railway locomotive # 1364 is donated to the city of Tacoma, Washington.

  • 08/16/1954 : Northern Pacific Railway's new Vista Dome passenger cars are put into service.

  • 09/01/1954 : Northern Pacific Railway's first piggy-back flat car service begins.

  • 11/28/1954 : Northern Pacific Railway's first Budd dome cars enter service on the North Coast Limited passenger train.

  • 05/29/1955 : New Budd dome cars are put into service on the Great Northern Railway's Empire Builder passenger train.

  • 06/21/1955 : Northern Pacific Railway's first push-button hump-yards opens at Pasco, Washington.

  • 10/20/1955 : Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway's last steam locomotive, leaves Hillyard, Washington.

  • 04/20/1956 : Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway locomotive # 700 makes its last run.

  • 06/02/1956 : Great Northern Railway steam locomotive # 1147 is placed on display at Wenanchee, Washington.

  • 07/31/1956 : Great Northern Railway's last day of electrified operation in Washington State.

  • 08/04/1957 : Northern Pacific Railway's first Timken steam locomotive # 2626, makes its last run.

  • 02/17/1958 : Northern Pacific Railway's first Pig-palace car goes into service.

  • 06/22/1959 : Spokane Portland & Seattle Railway's last regular steam run leaves Yardley, Washington on
                           the Scribner Turn.

  • 08/17/1959 : Great Northern Railway's Cascadian passenger service train makes its last run.

  • 12/01/1959 : Northern Pacific Railway begins Slumber-coach service on all of its passenger trains.
